A Hall of Fame NFL Career
Here we highlight the career and accomplishments of former Atlanta Falcon Mike Kenn.
Michael Lee Kenn was selected in the first round (13th overall) of the 1978 NFL draft, Mike Kenn played his entire 17-year career at offensive left tackle with the Atlanta Falcons. Kenn is the Atlanta Falcons’ all-time leader in games played and games started (251) and once posted a streak of 84 consecutive games played.
From the University of Michigan, Kenn was a 6-foot-7, 285-pound offensive line anchor for some of the Falcons’ most successful teams. In his first season Kenn made the NFL all-rookie team and the Falcons made their first playoff appearance in history. The Falcons made the playoffs three more times before the end of Kenn’s career in 1994. Kenn was elected to the Pro Bowl 5 consecutive times from 1980 to 1984 and earned 5 first-team and second-team All-Pro honors from 1980 to 1983, and 1991. Kenn, known for his excellent technical skills, once had a penalty free streak of 26 consecutive games. Kenn is a two time Mackey Award NFC Offensive Lineman of the Year recipient, a Byron "Whizzer" White NFL Man of the Year Award recipient, and a recipient of the Ed Block Courage Award. Retired in 1994, Kenn is in the Atlanta Falcons Ring of Honor, the Polish American Sports Hall of Fame, the Atlanta Sports Hall of Fame, and the Chicagoland Sports Hall of Fame. |
